With lot of companies opting for layoff  or winding up their Ops shops, it is becoming very difficult to survive in current job. Always remember there are no big issues or small issues, issues are issues and attend all with same commitment for bringing them closure. This approach will make you a "one stop solution for all problems."
  
• Nurture :  If you are into a managerial role, then nurture young minds under you and bring them to your level. This will not only make you a respected mentor on floor but also as a respected personality. Never ever shout for small mistakes done by trainees, they are trainees and bound to do some in initial stages, if you treat them correctly you will achieve amazing results from anyone. Remember there are no performing or non-performing assets in an organization but only groomed one's and a non-groomed one.
  
• Gossip : My sincere suggestion is never ever be a part of any office gossip. Here you are not only speaking ill of your colleagues but you are giving chance to other to speak ill of you. And these will bring hell upon you one day and you will be doomed for good. Above that someones character and job are at stake because of these loose talks. 
  
• Initiative : Do not wait for problems to come to you for a solution. Be proactive and provide solutions in form of permanent fix. Managements wants someone who are take initiatives rather than an external push or management coming to you. If you identify some bug or a loophole in the system, identify a solution and apply it post consulting Seniors. Also, look upon ways to reduce man-power or to eliminate redundant processes in your work-area.
